End Of Buddhist Lent 2023

One of the most beautiful festivals in Laos, the Fireboat Festival marks the end of Buddhist Lent in Luang Prabang. Every village creates a large boat from bamboo decorated with colored paper, candles, and lanterns. These are then paraded through town and judged, before being released into the Mekong, as an offering to the river spirits. All of the temples also decorate with paper lanterns, creating a very photogenic and charming ambience.

In 2023, this festival falls on October 30th.
