Begin with a pick-up from your hotel at 8.30am and head to Bamboo Experience, a rustic pavillion in a picturesque setting on the outskirts of Luang Prabang. After a warm welcome your guide will explain how bamboo is a key part of Lao culture. Then, try your hand at weaving a souvenir mat made from strips of the bamboo plant! Your local and very patient teacher will guide you through techniques which have been used for hundreds of years. After admiring your finished creation, learn how the bamboo plant also plays a vital role in everyday Lao cuisine. In a hands-on demonstration, assist a chef in cooking delicious dishes such as bamboo shoot soup, bamboo shoot steamed in banana leaf, and bamboo shoot dip. Savour your culinary creations with views of the countryside. After the class transfer by private vehicle to Kuang Si Falls (approximately 45 minutes drive), one of the most beautiful falls in Laos. Here, have the chance to swim and relax amidst verdant jungle surrounds, in turquoise pools at the base of the falls. Also have the chance to get up close with Asiatic Black Bears which are cared for at a bear sanctuary near the falls. Many of these bears have been saved from the illegal wildlife trade or have been placed here as a result of habitat degradation. Following your visit, you will return to your hotel in the late afternoon.
