Depart your hotel at 5:00am to observe the majestic ‘takbat’ ceremony, the daily offering of alms to monks. Observe as the town’s hundreds of monks proceed down the street in a single-file line of bright saffron-coloured robes, collecting rice from kneeling local inhabitants, just before Sunrise. Your local guide will take you to a vantage point less used by tourists (and good for photos), and will introduce you to the religion of Buddhism, so central to the Lao way of life. You will have ample opportunity to ask questions of your expert guide. End the morning with a sense of enlightenment. Then, climb up to the Mount Phousi for the Sunrise “The best moment to begin your day” there you will have an opportunity to see Luang Prabang’s panoramic view. After the visit stroll down the local morning Market, a vibrant place for an introduction to the colourful fruits and vegetables which make up the tasty regional diet. Sit down at a small restaurant for your Lao breakfast for today before transfer back to your accommodation.
